AJ Safety promotes some of Australia’s leading First aid kits that meet or exceed Safe Work Australia’s Model code of practice, – First aid in the workplace. Put simply, ‘The Code’ is intended to be read by a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU). It provides practical guidance to PCBUs on how to effectively provide first aid in the workplace. It includes information on first aid kits, procedures, facilities and training for first aiders.
The Code may be a useful reference for other persons interested in the duties under the WHS Act and WHS Regulations. The Code applies to all types of work and all workplaces covered by the WHS Act. (To download the code visit www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au).
First aid and first aid products are required when rendering assistance to the injured. Depending on the severity of any emergency, first responders are prepared with First aid products whilst helping the injured until such time trained paramedics are on scene.
The code of practice suggests, within appendix B, that First aid and the risk management process be conducted and implemented in four easy steps. Step 1—Identify potential causes of workplace injury and illness, Step 2—Assess the risk of workplace injury and illness, Step 3—What first aid is required? and lastly Step 4— Review first aid to ensure effectiveness.
To help companies meet these obligations AJ Safety stocks a range of First aid kits from basic, low Risk to High Risk, new incident ready kits and complete refills to ensure you are always prepared. In addition we also range eye wash vials, bottles and eyewash stations, to help irrigate the eyes quickly, in case of emergencies.
AJ Safety also has available a range of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). A common question is: When is an AED needed?
AEDs are used to revive someone from sudden cardiac arrest. This usually occurs when a disruption in the heart’s electrical activity causes a dangerously fast heartbeat (ventricular tachycardia) or a fast and irregular heartbeat (ventricular fibrillation), defibrillators are used for a higher chance of revival incase of sudden cardiac arrest.
